Foam Conversion Process

Melamine foam (melamine sponge) is a high-performance material made from melamine resin through physical microwave intervention. The main conversion processes for producing melamine foam are as follows:

Foaming

Mix prepared melamine resin with a foaming agent, heat the mixture so that the liquid foaming agent undergoes phase transformation, releasing a large amount of gas, forming a uniform foam structure. After a period of heating and curing, the foaming process is completed, and the melamine resin turns into a porous foam body, usually large blocks of melamine foam.

Cutting and Processing

Cut large blocks of melamine foam into smaller blocks, sheets, or rolls for further processing and treatment according to needs. Cut melamine foam into various shapes and sizes of sponge products using specialized cutting equipment to ensure smooth cutting surfaces and precision.

Hot Press Shaping

Apply pressure while heating the melamine sponge as needed. The pressure size is set according to product density and shape requirements, generally ranging from several MPa to tens of MPa. Pressure is applied through hydraulic or mechanical systems of hot presses to ensure uniform and continuous pressure on the sponge. The heating time is set based on material thickness and desired effects to achieve different surface shapes, high density, and high toughness materials.

Composite Processing

Melamine sponge can be laminated with various aluminum foils, textiles, nonwoven fabrics, and films like TPU, PET, etc. Apply an appropriate amount of adhesive to the bonding surface of melamine sponge and aluminum foil or film to achieve bonding with other materials or functions like self-adhesive.

Quality Inspection and Packaging

Conduct quality inspection of finished products, including dimensional accuracy, shape consistency, density uniformity, and physical performance to ensure the products meet design and use requirements. Package qualified products, preparing them for market sales.
